Google is stealing from content creators on the web. Plain and simple. The AI nicely summarizes the article “often getting nuanced details wrong or not understanding the context of the article, which LLMs are notorious for” yes google puts a link to the referenced material in tiny font below the answer but the user had got their answer so you lose their traffic.

They had already been doing this to a lesser extent with “rich results” which many developers tried to implement on their websites only to find out that Google is simply stealing their content. They suck the value out of everything, from content creators, small businesses, e-commerce, and advertisers. They want it all.

But they’re so evil and greedy now that they are actually going to screw themselves because they are destroying their own customer base. Good riddance.
